In Conversation: MTA at DNA documents the relationship between art and environment at Mount Tremper Arts (MTA). MTA is a multi-disciplinary arts center in the Catskill Mountains that presents an acclaimed yearly summer arts festival. Founded by photographer Mathew Pokoik and choreographer Aynsley Vandenbroucke, MTA fosters an environment of creative risk-taking and intellectual curiosity. Dedicated to providing artists with space to explore aesthetic questions, MTA presents intimate performances in a post-and-beam studio, while also presenting photography and visual art exhibitions. Throughout the season, residencies provide artists with a relaxed, informal setting where an exchange of ideas takes place often during dinners made with produce from the center’s organic garden, and in conversations around a campfire. This approach creates a warm, lively community supporting the artistic enterprise.
